There are several reasons a Dryer Vent inspection and repair may be needed. The most common one i come across is after a roof replacement. While replacing the roof the roofers will replace the existing dryer vent roof cap, but forget to attach the new roof cap to the existing dryer vent duct.
This can be a big problem for homeowners. All that lint will not exit out the roof cap, instead it will settle in the attic. This can create a fire hazard if the amount of lint is severe! In addition by not having a properly sealed dryer vent system you will have reduced back flow pressure. This can also cause drying times to to be longer than a properly sealed, clean dryer vent. Most homeowners find this out the next time they are in the attic long after the roofers have gone. Or worse it is discovered by a home inspector while the home is in the process of selling. This often delays the selling of the home.
A typical Dryer Vent repair job is $75.00. At the same time a dryer vent inspection can be performed.
If the lint build up is severe, we can also remove that lint and replace any insulation that is compromised. (if blown in insulation is used) for an additional fee.
